Ford Edge from the house of Ford is a mid-sized crossover sport utility vehicle, designed and produced based on the CD3 platform.

The platform used in the model is also shared by Lincoln MKZ, Mercury Milan, Mazda CX-9 and Ford Fusion.

Edge articulately fills the gap between truck based SUVs like Explorer and minivans like Freestar. It is a perfect blend of sedan like handling and an SUV like functionality.

Ford Edge has consistently improved with every year model passing by. Right from being an yet another regular crossover to becoming one of the leaders in the segment, the SUV from Ford has done it all and is still going strong.

2007 Edge


The Ford Edge was introduced at North American Auto Show in January, 2006 as a 2007 model. The brand new model was a five seater crossover SUV which had a V6 engine under the hood. The engine pumped a horsepower of 265 hp.

The trims available with the SUV were SE, SEL and SEL Plus. The 2007 Edge offered a gas economy of 16 mpg within city limits and 23 mpg on highways. The MSRP of the model starts at $14,212 and goes upto $17,005.

2008 Edge


A newer Edge addresses convenience and luxury with addition of Ford’s “Sync” system, a voice based navigation unit and an optional power liftgate. Another change includes a new trim Limited replacing the existing SEL Plus.

The fuel economy within city limits remain the same while it marginally improves on highways from 23 mpg to 24 mpg. The upgrades also hike the MSRP, which starts at $16,824 and depending on trim levels can go upto $21,010.

2009 Edge


2009 sees a series of changes in Ford Edge. A brand new Sport trim gets included in the lineup. The new features include distinct outlook and interior and larger wheels and tires. Features like blind spot mirrors and Ford’s SOS Post – crash Alert system go standard on all trim levels.

Ford navigation system with Sirius Travel Link is also added to Edge lineup. With same highway mileage as before, the city mileage gets bossted slightly from 16 mpg to 17 mpg. The MSRP for 2009 Edge ranges from $18,474 for SE to $24,315 for Sport.

2010 Edge


For 2010 there were’nt any major changes apart from minor outlook modification. The fuel economy gets upgraded because of light weight styling.

The city street mileage provided by the model is 18 mpg and that of highways is 25 mpg. The pricing of the base SE is tagged at $22,149 and goes upto $27,411 for the top most model.

2011 Edge


The 2011 Edge gets heavily upgraded with boosted power, revised styling, reduction of outside noise and improved uber class interiors. SE, SEL and Limited get a 3.5 liter V6 engine which offers a horsepower of 285 hp and generates a torque of 253 lb – ft.

On the other hand Edge Sport gets a more powerful 3.7 liter V6 engine which pumps 305 horsepower and 280 lb – ft of torque. The gas economy improves to city limit ratings of 19 mpg and highway rating of 26 mpg. The MSRP of 2011 Edge starts at $27,515 and goes upto $38,375.


The consistent improvement in Ford Edge clearly signs the rise of a leader crossover SUV.
